Greyfriars Hideaway is an exclusive 5 Star Gold destination in central Oxford complemented by concierge services*. Two historic luxury self catering properties, sleeping up to 12, are set within a truly unparalleled private and secure location cosseted in the vibrant centre of Oxford just metres from Westgate Oxford and Oxford Castle. An exceptional location for business or pleasure. These two luxurious 5 Star Gold self catering properties can be booked independently or taken together as a whole for complete exclusivity.
The Masters Lodgings is a grade-II-listed, 17th-century townhouse whose two ‘whole floor’ suites blend heritage features with contemporary style: there are hand-made super-king size beds with Vi-Spring mattresses, en-suite bathrooms with roll-top baths and rainfall showers, and dressing rooms furnished with a desk, tulipwood wardrobes and easy chairs. A beautiful wood-panelled staircase (original to the house) links the bedrooms with the ground floor, where you’ll find a well-equipped hand-made kitchen, complete with a high-end coffee machine, double ovens, boiling tap, induction hob and a dining table that overlooks the restful garden. There’s a Sonos sound system with ceiling speakers, good Wi-Fi and a large and cosy sitting room with sofa and chairs, a dining table and French doors leading to the garden, which is quite honestly about as tranquil a place to sit and ponder as you’ll find in central Oxford.
Cloisters comfortably sleeps 8 people in 4 spacious bedroom suites, and like its sister property boasts hand-made super-king-size beds with Vi-Spring mattresses and huge, very sleek porcelain and natural stone en-suite bathrooms with freestanding baths and monsoon showers. Two suites overlook the garden, while the other two face Oxford Castle, which is illuminated at night. There’s a large downstairs sitting room with a large-screen TV with French doors opening onto the garden, Wi-Fi and Sonos sound throughout, and a superb modern luxury kitchen with double ovens, coffee machine wine fridge, three sinks with boiling taps and a dedicated breakfast zone. Once again, the shared courtyard garden is a welcome and very secluded spot to escape the hubbub of central Oxford, and there’s a large table and chairs for al fresco dining. All in all, it’s no surprise that it’s recently been awarded a 5 Star Gold rating by Visit England.
Greyfriars Hideaway is complemented by an array of perfectly curated services and experiences offered to you through carefully selected external service providers. The accommodation is self-catering, but guests may choose to opt for a full concierge service with private chef, waiting staff and daily housekeeping.
Greyfriars Hideaway was the Gold Winner of ‘New Tourism Business of the Year’ and ‘Self-Catering Accommodation of the Year’ at the Beautiful South Awards for Excellence 2022-2023.
