The Oxford Bus Company has won UK Large Bus Operator of the Year in a prestigious national bus industry award.
It scooped the accolade in the Route One Awards, dubbed ‘The Oscars of the bus, coach and mini-bus industry’, in the Large Bus Operator category.
The awards recognise and celebrate achievements, innovation and the highest standards of excellence in all aspects of operations. The Large Bus Operator of the Year category focused on rewarding ‘exceptional on the road performance and exemplary service’.
Phil Southall, Oxford Bus Company Managing Director, said:
“This award is thanks to the consistent hard work, dedication and customer service of our team.
“It is a fantastic achievement and I’m proud of the whole team who deserve this recognition for working so hard to deliver a first-class service daily.”
The other finalists in the Large Bus Operators category were Arriva Yorkshire, Go South Coast, Nottingham City Transport, Reading Buses and Stagecoach East Scotland.
Tim Deakin, Editor of Route One magazine said
“It was a pleasure to present Phil and his team at Oxford Bus Company (OBC) with the award that recognises it as Large Bus Operator of the Year. The category was a particularly challenging one for our judging panel of industry experts. They favoured OBC for its outstanding work to grow buses’ modal share in Oxford and its excellent returns in passenger satisfaction surveys. OBC also continues to demonstrate a class-leading awareness of its environmental responsibilities, which further counted in its favour. It is for those reasons that OBC came out on top despite some superb competition.”
