Thames Travel in partnership with Oxford United is re-launching its ‘Football Special’ match-day bus services for U’s fans.
With fans allowed to return to football matches this season the popular match-day bus services are retuning for United’s home games. The OX2, OX3 and OX7 services will return this Saturday for the Sky Bet League One match against Charlton Athletic at the Kassam Stadium.
The double decker buses provide fans with a simple and cost-effective way to get to and from United’s home matches. The OX2 connects Didcot and Abingdon with the Kassam Stadium and picks up in Steventon and Drayton and will operate for all Saturday matches. The OX3 and OX7 services bring fans to and from United home games from Carterton, Brize Norton, Witney, Eynsham, Botley, Kidlington, the Banbury Road, Summertown, Marston and Headington.
Phil Southall, Thames Travel Managing Director, said: “It is great to see fans returning back to Oxford United this season following the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions. As partners of the football club we are pleased to have re-affirmed our Football Special service to help supporters attend matches and support their local club.”
Mick Brown, Oxford United Football Club Secretary, said: “This is great news for supporters and means fans in many areas of south Oxfordshire have a reliable way to attend home games via public transport. We are grateful to Thames Travel for its support and would encourage supporters to use the services to help make them viable.”
Enhanced cleaning regimes are being maintained and monitored on all Thames Travel vehicles.
