- Temporary suspension of Oxford Tube services following government national guidance to reduce travel
- Stagecoach services between Woodstock and Oxford will operate to revised timetables from Sunday 5th April
- Timetables between Witney/ Carterton and Oxford revised to reduce the number of services and journeys operating
- Changes to the 10, 12 and 16 in the City
Following the government’s guidance to stay at home and stop all non-essential travel, all Oxford Tube services will be temporarily suspended after Sunday 5 April.
Despite running a revised timetable, the number of people travelling on Oxford Tube services has dropped significantly since the national government guidance was issued on non-essential travel and the difficult decision has now been taken to suspend the service until further notice.
Any customers with tickets booked through Oxford Tube should contact oxford.enquiries@stagecoachbus.com for a full refund.
The majority of other local bus services operated by Stagecoach within Oxford will continue to run on revised timetables carefully created to ensure that critical routes for key workers are maintained wherever possible. However, Stagecoach will be making further changes to the S3 and 7 timetables between Woodstock and Oxford and will be introducing changes to the service provision between Carterton/Witney and Oxford with the reduction in service on the S1, removal of the S2 and retiming of the S7. There will also be further changes to city routes on the 10, 12 and 16. For more information on timetables, visit stagecoachbus.com/coronavirus.
Chris Coleman, Managing Director at Stagecoach in Oxfordshire, which manages the Oxford Tube and local Stagecoach services in Oxfordshire, said: “We have been carefully monitoring passenger numbers since the government advice on non-essential travel, and have already made significant reductions to our timetable.
“However, we firmly believe that the decision to temporarily suspend services on the Oxford Tube is now the right one based on the current unprecedented circumstances and we hope our customers understand this. We will continue to review and we hope to welcome our customers back on board when the situation improves.
“Our local services across Oxford will continue to run to a reduced timetable providing a service for key workers to get them where they need to be. Following changes to the city services last weekend we will be introducing further reductions on services from Woodstock and Witney/ Carterton to Oxford and a small number of city services also from this weekend.
“I’m extremely proud of the whole team in Oxfordshire and I would like to thank all of our staff and customers for their continued support and resilience in these challenging times.”
